Mathcaddy Radio: Session 8

It has been so long since the last Mathcaddy Radio Session, I’m beginning to suspect that any of my previous “regular” listeners – except Tony Park – have all deleted me from their newsreaders, bookmarks, and wedding invitations. But who cares! I’m not in it because I think people will actually listen! Although I still haven’t really figured out why I’m in it…

Anyway, I’m very excited to be back in it. I have about four more sessions all lined up and put together. I can’t wait to share them with all of you! (All three of you.)

But I digress.

This session is a collection of songs from the 1970s (except one). I had never heard any of them until the past month (except one). I’m not very structured. Maybe you’ve guessed that.

Don’t let the Beach Boys songs discourage you. These are a couple of mind-blowing tracks and a sound that you most likely haven’t heard from them. Most people wouldn’t even guess these are the Beach Boys.

I have nothing else to say, so I guess you oughta go ahead and listen up!

It was Sunday night. My wife was at my parents’ house watching the season finale of Alias. And I was all by myself in our little apartment. Sounds pretty lonely doesn’t it? Well, it’s not that lonely. But in honor of the simulated loneliness, here’s a collection of fairly sad songs (with a few exceptions). Now get listening!

Mathcaddy Radio: Session 5: All Time Favorites

Adam says: Mathcaddy Radio presents Adam’s 10 favorite songs of all time. Although, this is just off the top of my head… there’s probably other stuff I like just as much. Anyway, I invited Steve to participate in this session. And he did. His role was to offer his opinion after I shared with him some of my favorites. Sometimes he was even funny! Often he was just weird. And occasionally he hated my picks.

Steve says: Adam made me do this. He dragged me from my house with my heels clicking and clacking the whole way. I got a hair cut today. Adam gave me ice cream and it was good. I had a hard time saying what I liked and didn’t like about songs, so I just said anything else that came to mind. Some songs that I sound particullary hateful towards I actually like. So dont trust anything that I say. But don’t come to me for help when the communists come, I will be somewhere.

  • 09: Travis – “Writing to Reach You”
  • 10: Roy Orbison – “You Got It”

  • [31 MB MP3 :: 34 Minutes]

    Mathcaddy Radio: Adam Sucks Edition

Steve and I were conversing this evening and he pointed out that almost all of the new and interesting music that he listens to comes from my recommendations. This is touching, but I doubt it would make for a good radio show. Unless…?

“Well,” I joked, “You could just take what music I pick off of my radio session, and then add your own commentary!”

The truth is, this isn’t a horrible idea. Steve is actually far more amusing than I am – and it would be additionally humorous if he were to base his entire show off of correcting my mistakes or merely putting his spin on what songs I picked. It would give each radio show two “flavors,” which might be fun.

Maybe we’ll try it, maybe we won’t. We do seem to have a large number of listeners out there. Like six or something. And with Steve’s help, we are determined to raise that number to SEVEN!

    Mathcaddy Radio Session 1.1

For anyone who was sickened within the first minute of Mathcaddy Radio Session 1 because of the poor quality of sound, I have updated Mathcaddy Radio Session 1 to Mathcaddy Radio Session 1.1 – this time with much higher quality recording equipment. Hopefully the commentary is a little better this time, but I won’t give any guarantees.

You can get Session 1.1 here.

Additionally, Mathcaddy Radio Session 2 is on its way and should be released by this evening. I’m pretty excited about some of the stuff in this set. It should be fun. For me. I have no idea if it’s fun for you.

    Mathcaddy Radio Session 1

With apologies to Acts of Volition, mathcaddy.com launches Mathcaddy Radio.

Anyone with a microphone is weclome to contribute their own four to eight track radio show playlist, but the mp3 file must include commentary on each track and be all one file.

So… here is Adam’s Mathcaddy Radio session 1: [37 mb]

If you have problems, please understand it was thrown together hastily just to try it out quickly. There are a number of things that will be improved for session 2 (if there is a session 2). First, I will use better recording and mic technique. Second, I will arrange my comments ahead of time regarding each track. I figured it would be easier than it was. I had a hard time not just saying, “this was a good song,” or “that was a great track” all the time.

After hearing it (if you choose to) please leave a comment– yay or nay: is it a worthy thing to keep trying to do? and if so, what are your thoughts? if not, then why not?

Now featuring Mathcaddy Radio Session 1.1, with better sound and better (?) commentary. (Well, at least better sound.)
