Evan Gross: More Maria

A couple of weeks ago when Evan played “Maria” for me, I said, “Holy crap, that song’s awesome! You’ve gotta record it!”

Last week, he recorded it. Tonight, he re-recorded it, adding banjo and acoustic picking. Missing is Zac’s sweet drum track, but we’ll get to that and probably add some bass.

Enjoy Maria 3.0.

Parts of it sound like Ryan Adams “To Be Young”, but the guitar playing is excellent nonetheless.

Hey, if Adam D. is Adam Davis, we haven’t talked in a long time and I’d like to hang out with you sometime man. For reals. I’m still in Seattle. My e-mail is grossevan@hotmail.com. I’d give you my # but I’m moving in a month, so that’s going to change pretty quick. I hope you’re doing good and that you’re still rocking the drums a bit here and there and pissing off the neighbors.

And yeah, I guess it does sound a lot like Ryan Adams’s “To Be Young”, which wasn’t intentional, but I do use almost the same chords, and rhythm, and interlude…LYrics are mine though…maybe something else is mine too, but I’ll have to get back to you on that, ya know? What can I say, I love that song and so my influences are bleeding through I guess.

    Check ya my friend,

    -Evan

PS: Thanks Adam B. for the Postage and Steve for the commentary and Andre Hunt for the invisible comments. I guess he was either speechless two times or he just had nothing to say after two listens.
